  • Scrutinise the Trust’s educational performance to ensure that its business is fully compliant with all legal requirements
  • Assist the Board in understanding educational implications of delivering the actions in the business plan
  • Make recommendations to the Board on educational performance matters
  • Ensure the highest quality reporting information is available to the Board
  • Oversight of implementation of the Academy improvement plans
  • Oversight of the management of standards within the schools/academies
  • Oversight of internal and external professional reviews
  • Oversight activity of the Local Governing Bodies

Finance, Risk & Audit

  • Scrutinise the Trust’s finances to ensure that its business is fully compliant with all legal, audit and financial requirements
  • Assist the Board in understanding financial and risk implications of delivering the actions in the business plan
  • Make recommendations to the Board on risk and financial matters
  • Ensure the highest quality financial information is available to the Board
  • Maintain oversight of the relationship with the external Auditors
  • Oversight of implementation of the ESFA Financial Handbook
  • Oversight and implementation of the Trust Finance Manual
  • Oversight of the management of Corporate Risk
  • Oversight of external audit and internal Responsible Officer reviews

Health & Safety, HR and Estates

  • Scrutinise the Trust’s H&S and HR to ensure that its business is fully compliant with all legal requirements
  • Assist the Board in understanding H&S, HR and Estates implications of delivering the actions in the business plan
  • Make recommendations to the Board on H&S, HR and Estates matters
  • Ensure the highest quality reporting information is available to the Board
  • Oversight of implementation of the H&S & HR policies
  • Oversight of the management of H&S
